Ainol Novo10 Hero-2 QuadCore 10.1" HD-IPS Tablet

Ainol Novo10 Hero-2 is the very first Tablet released that is using the newest SoC made by Actions Semi named ATM7029 Chipset which is a QuadCore Cortex A9 processor which clocks at 1.5GHz with a built-in DualCore Vivante GC1000 graphics. If you're an owner of Ainol Novo10 Hero, don't be surprised on what you will see. Yes, the Ainol Novo10 Hero-2 is 100% copied from Ainol Novo10 Hero exterior design but is using a DualCore AMLogic 8726-M6 DualCore Cortex A9 with DualCore Mali400 graphics instead.

Internal Specification is very similar also to previous Ainol Novo10 Hero version except for the Bluetooth Connectivity which seems Ainol didn't include on the Novo10 Hero-2. We will still confirm that and have this article edited if found false.

You can read the full review of Ainol Novo10 Hero posted before HERE.

There isn't much leak information on how Action Semi ATM7029 QuadCore processor will perform or how power efficient it is, but one thing is for sure; this Tablet is not for Heavy 3D Games lovers. Vivante graphics has history of poor Heavy 3D Games compatibility. If you don't mind having few Heavy 3D Games compatible on your Tablet, then its good for you. You may still play Casual Games like Angry Birds and Temple Run without any problems on compatibility or watch different format of your HD Videos as-well. Its really a mater of preference, not all Tablet users play Heavy 3D Games and those people is where this Tablet is supposed to serve.

Pandawill.com is offering Ainol Novo10 Hero-2 for the lowest price of US$216.99 including a world-wide free shipping.

ONDA V972 QuadCore 9.7" Retina Display IPS Tablet

7% DISCOUNT COUPON FOR THIS ITEM!
VALID UNTIL JANUARY 12, 2013
COUPON CODE: 4ONDA

ONDA joined the QuadCore Tablets race by releasing their very first attempt of QuadCore Tablet using the newest chipset manufactured by Allwinner Tech. The ONDA V972 9.7" IPS Tablet with Allwinner A31 QuadCore Cortex A7 which is said to defeat any DualCore Cortex A9 processor in efficiency. It carries a powerful PowerVR SGX544 OctaCore graphics which can be found  also on Apple's iPad 3. This would definitely turn the China MID Tablets competition at its finest.

To make sure that the Allwinner A31 QuadCore Cortex A7 processor with OctaCore PowerVR SGX544 graphics will perform at its best, ONDA decided to install a 2GB of DDR3 RAM on this Tablet to provide more room for running your Heavy Intensive Apps and 3D Games.

The ONDA V972 with 16GB of NAND Storage is available for pre-order at Pandawill.com for very affordable price of US$269.99 including a world-wide free shipping. It comes with color White and Black and is supposed to be available on 1st or 2nd week of January 2013.

This is the very interesting part of ONDA V972, we all know that there are several China MID brands offering each a Retina Display Tablet. However, most of them is using a less powerful DualCore or QuadCore graphics processors like RK3066 with a half-speed Mali400 MP4. Although the Mali400 MP4 may seems strong enough to handle every Heavy 3D Games, it has limitation specifically on Display Resolution. It can only handle and process image smoothly with a Full-HD resolution, anything above that will give the half-speed Mali400 MP4 a hard time and users will soon experience occasional lags and delay on graphics transitions.
ONDA knows and understand everything about it so they've been patient to have a Chipset like Allwinner A31 Cortex A7 that won't suffer in this consequences. PowerVR SGX544 with OctaCore graphics processor like an Apple iPad 3 has will surely handle the Retina Display with ease so users can enjoy the awesomeness of having the said feature. IPS Screen Technology is added to provide vivid and bright images with wide viewing angles without losing every bit of quality.
A 2.0MP Front Facing Camera is placed identical to Apple iPad 3 Camera, just don't expect FaceTime quality in here. 2.0MP is decent enough with good background light indoor or outdoor. This should be more than enough for Video Calling purposes.
ONDA is very clever copying the Apple iPad 3 looks. Its very clear on how the V972 was designed, 5.0MP Rear Facing Camera on the corner just like where Apple put their Rear Camera and an Aluminium shell case to protect the back. Little ONDA brand markings can be covered with an Apple logo sticker that can be bought at several stalls at mall if you want to. LoL.
What makes me worry to these full Aluminium Shell case is how the WiFi will perform, some Tablets like PiPO with full Aluminium Shell suffers a slight decrease on WiFi performance, leaving the users a limited WiFi coverage. Although ONDA doesn't seems to share the same history with regards to WiFi performance.
Complete availability of Interface port and function is also seen here. From left to right; Stereo Speakers, microUSB with Host function, microSDCard slot upto 32GB of External Storage, miniHDMI-out, and a standard Wall Charger port.
Having a Stereo Speakers are great. But having them both on one side isn't. It just defeat the purpose of having them. Let's just hope it provide decent sound quality. The Tablet thickness measures around 9.8mm which is fine.

Almost everything on this Tablet seems to be fine. Battery Capacity was 8000mAh 3.7V which is rated to last 8hrs of usage. But, having a Retina Display has been notorious to Battery Life. This is one of the consequences the users will have to bear or maybe I'm wrong this time. It is said that this new QuadCore Cortex A7 performs about 3.5x better than DualCore Cortex A9 while consuming 0.9x energy compared to latter. If these data are true, there should be no worries at all.

Ramos W42 QuadCore 9.4" HD-IPS Tablet

Ramos or Blue Devils in Chinese brand started to flood the China MID market a series of Tablets using a Samsung Exynos 4412 QuadCore Cortex A9 processor with QuadCore Mali400 graphics at full speed. It started with their recent release Ramos W30 and W30HD which creates a huge difference to other China MID brands that opted to use a cheaper QuadCore solution instead like FreeScale i.MX6Q and Action Semi ATM7029 chipsets.

The Ramos W42 is a 9.4" Tablet that is almost identical to PiPO Max-M8 that we've already featured here before. However, the Ramos W42 is actually using a much powerful chipset than PiPO Max-M8's Rockchip RK3066 DualCore chipset with half-speed Mali400 MP4 graphics, and a much faster Bluetooth Connectivity. It has a WiFi Connectivity, Accelerometer and Gyro function, although it lack an HDMI-out and some features were scaled down. Its still using Android 4.0.4 IceCreamSandwich OS which is very unfortunate. Hopefully, Ramos will provide decent JellyBean updates on their Exynos 4412 Tablets.

You can now place your pre-order at Pandawill.com which offers a very competitive price of US$266.99 including a world-wide free shipping. The item is expected to be release 1st or 2nd week of January 2013.

The Ramos W42 is using the same screen that PiPO Max-M8 uses, a 1280x800pixel HD720p resolution 10-point Multi-Touch Display Panel with vivid and bright IPS screen Technology. Wider viewing angles, perfect image quality and clearer display of Text. Suitable for every users need like Gaming, Movie Playback, Viewing Photos, Browsing the Web and Reading E-books.
A low resolution 0.3MP Front Facing camera is placed on the middle-top of the bezel which can be useful on Video Calling.
This is where PiPO Max-M8 had an advantage, Ramos W42 placed a 2.0MP Rear Camera without LED Flash and a Monofiring LoudSpeaker instead of Stereo Speakers. PiPO Max-M8's 5.0MP Rear Camera with Flash is said to captures good quality of HD Photos and Videos and the Stereo Speaker which are placed in the Front provides great sound clarity and quality. A 2.0MP Rear Camera can still be useful, however, it requires good lightings if used indoor.
The Monofiring LoudSpeaker placed in the back is somehow a bit disappointing for this almost great QuadCore Tablet. I guess they had to do some sacrifice in order to maintain competitive price. Let's just hope it provide at-least decent quality of sound.

The Ramos W42 also have a lower Battery Capacity of 5400mAh capacity against 6500mAh capacity of PiPO Max-M8, however Samsung Exynos 4412 Chipset is proven efficient so don't be surprise if these two offers very similar Battery Life. Additional PiPO Max-M8 advantage is how they design the Tablet. its almost comparable to Sonxy Xperia S Tablet with its 9mm thickness against Ramos W42's 10.5mm. Both are using Aluminium Shell Case to protect the back of the Tablet and if we look PiPO Max-M8's WiFi performance, there should be no problem on Ramos W42's WiFi performance as-well.

As for the performance, it should be a hands down win of Ramos W42 over PiPO Max-M8.

PiPO Max-M8 DualCore 9.4" HD-IPS +3G Tablet

PiPO is ready to unfold their next big line-up of Tablet-PC starting to their new 9.4" Tablet, the PiPO Max-M8 DualCore 9.4" HD-IPS +3G Tablet. Only one particular brand has release a 9.4" Tablet before and that's no other than Sony, and PiPO is following their footstep by using the very same 9.4" HD-IPS Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen LED Display Panel that Sony has used on their Xperia S Tablet-PC. There should be minimal to NO difference at all on the screen if you both looking at Sony Xperia S Tablet and PiPO Max-M8 Tablet except for the Shell Design. In-fact, PiPO has made it better than Sony did to their Xperia S Tablet which measures around 12mm on the thickest part while 8.9mm on thinnest part. Sony Xperia S Tablet still have an advantage here because of Nvidia's Tegra3 QuadCore Chipset, performance would be far better than PiPO Max-M8 which only have a DualCore RockChip RK3066 Chipset. However, price is almost twice than the expected retail price of the PiPO Max-M8 which makes it even.

One big advantage of PiPO Max-M8 here is the built-in 3G connectivity which Sony Xperia S Tablet lacks. No more hassle finding for a good Wi-Fi Hotspots, just turn-on your 3G connection and check your emails, manage your Social Media accounts anywhere and anytime. The 3G modem widely supports variety of networks world-wide except for some states/country in US and EU which PiPO Max-M2 users had hard time configuring their modem to support their network providers. If you ask if its support Phone Function, the answer is NO.

The 3G Version of this Tablet is NOW available at Pandawill.com for US$260.99, while the Non-3G Version is already available for US$207.49. Both includes a world-wide free shipping.

As mentioned above, PiPO Max-M8 is using Sony LED Display Panel with an HD resolution of 1280x800pixel while having the IPS Screen Technology that boost the Screen's image quality and vividness. Viewing angle is also wider than a regular Display, so viewing the Tablet on every angle should help reduce image colour or contrast distortion. I believe PiPO is using FlexiGlass screen and should be able to resist scratch from everyday usage. This kind of Glass screen doesn't protect the screen from breaking as it doesn't have the same toughness of a Gorilla Glass screen. Anyway, just put extra precaution not dropping your Tablet or sitting on top of it and it should be fine.

On the middle-top of the screen bezel, you'll find the 2.0MP Front Facing Camera that can be use on capturing your own photos or as a webcam when doing Video Calls. You will also find a dot near the Camera, it is the Light Sensor which manage the Tablet's screen brightness automatically responding to environment's light availability. The front Stereo Speakers placed on each side of the top-screen bezel. PiPO has made great improvement on their Stereo Speakers starting on their Max-M3 and Max-M2, This PiPO Max-M8 should also provide excellent sound quality and clarity. On the top-right side corner is the main Power/Sleep Button, while the 3.5mm HeadPhone/Earphone port is placed on the other side.

The back is made of a combination of Plastic and Metal material (maybe magnesium-aloy) and it seems not coated which is great. I am no fan of coated metal or aluminium shell material as its fills itself of scratches in due time. A combination of Plastic and Metal is also good preventing any Wi-Fi connectivity issue like most full-metal shell material Tablet had when the metal shell material is blocking extra amount of signal from reaching the Wi-Fi antenna inside the Tablet. The design is very plain and simple, small PiPO branding on the bottom and tiny interface ports marking on the top. Another improvement we are seeing here is the 5.0MP Rear Facing camera with LED Flash and Auto-Zoom function, something that is missing on older PiPO Tablets. The Camera is supposed to capture full-HD photos and videos and the LED flash will definitely help improve captured photos and videos on dark room or during at night.

PiPO has also made improvement on overall looks and external build quality of this product, Max-M8 only measures around 9mm in thickness (around 1mm thicker than Sony Xperia S Tablet's thinnest part). I actually like the way the Tablet edges is made, very elegant yet looks so sturdy. On the top is where the complete availability of Interface ports is located. Here you have an expansion storage slot that supports 32GB of microSDCard, two microUSB port with Host function, a miniHDMI port with full-HD display out. 2.5mm Wall Charger port and the tiny MIC hole. ESC and Menu keys are placed as well on the top.

If there's one thing that most of us want to know more is the Battery Life of this Tablet. It has a battery capacity of 6500mAh 3.7V which is 500mAh larger than Sony Xperia S Tablet, it may be good to hear but the fact we would like to know is how power efficient PiPO made this product. 6500mAh seems to be quite small if we compare to other China MID Tablets like for example Ainol Novo10 Hero which has huge 8000mAh 3.7V battery capacity. Hopefully it could offer full 6-hours of Internet usage either via Wi-Fi or 3G connection, or 6-hours of Heavy 3D Gaming.

ViewSonic ViewPad N710 QuadCore 7" HD-IPS Tablet

Another challenger to Google Nexus 7 has arrive to market, this one ain't no China MID Tablet but a new product from one of the leading LED-LCD screen manufacturer; ViewSonic. The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 which is a successor to their old ViewSonic ViewPad E72 Tablet. It has the very same chipset that the Nexus 7 has; Nvidia Tegra-3 1.3GHz QuadCore Cortex-A9 processor with 12-Core GeForce ULP graphics. We all know how this chipset performs, expect excellent performance and great apps/games compatibility. It comes with a 1GB of RAM that should be enough handling all the resources and 8GB of Storage which is honestly quite small but that shouldn't be a problem as unlike the Nexus 7, the ViewPad N710 has an storage expansion upto 32GB and extended through its microSD-Slot.

It also have similar hardware feature to Nexus 7 like a built-in Bluetooth and an Offline GPS with Google Maps navigation support. It comes only with WiFi connectivity but with option to use 3G connection using external 3G device. For now, it runs on Android OS IceCreamSandwich 4.0 and hopefully it receive an update to latest JellyBean 4.1 OS too.

You can get this Tablet at Pandawill.com for a very competitive price of US$229.99 including a world-wide free shipping. 16GB Version is also available for US$249.99 including world-wide free shipping as-well. A decent price for a great Nexus 7 Tablet alternative.

Just like we mention above, hardware feature are very similar to Nexus 7. Screen is made of 5-touch capacitive LED screen with IPS Technology and a beautiful HD display or 1280x800pixel resolution. ViewSonic is a company that is expert on producing Display Panel so we should be expecting awesome quality of ViewPad N710, plus don't forget that it has IPS Technology which gives wider viewing angle to Tablet without losing much of image quality. It has a 2.0MP Front Facing camera on the right which is good for capturing self-photos or as a webcam for Video Calling. Although some features like Light Sensor and Magnetic Sensor found on Nexus 7 aren't available here on ViewPad N710, not a big deal for me.
The shell case material uses an elegant combination of Plastic and Aluminium with the brand perfectly placed in the middle. From this picture you'll see the Stereo Speakers both placed in one side of the Tablet and should provide decent sound quality. While the other side has the expansion storage slot, microUSB with Host function and a standard 3.5mm Headphone/Earphone port. No Charging port means this one will probably charge through the microUSB port. The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 offers a full 7 hours of Battery Life with its 4000mAh Battery Capacity, 325mAh less than Nexus 7 which is rated to operate upto 10 hours. Well, maybe this one will do the same with casual usage. External build quality is excellent and elegant. Unfortunately, it lacks HDMI out and a Rear Facing Camera.

The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 will definitely give a tough competition to Google Nexus 7 and other challenger like SmartQ X7. Another good alternative with very similar specifications to Google Nexus 7.

FreeLander PD10 Typhoon DualCore 7" IPS 3G Phablet

Looking for a good DualCore 7" Tablet with 3G and complete Phone function? You should definitely see the FreeLander PD10 Typhoone Phone-Tablet which is a 7" DualCore Cortex A9 MTK6577 Chipset with 1.0GHz of processing power and Imagination Tech SGX531 graphics. A very popular and good performer chipset suitable for smartphones and phone-tablets combined with a 1GB of RAM which should be enough carrying all the resources that the Tablet needed.

The FreeLander PD10 Typhoon packs a complete feature that most of the users would love to have like an Offline GPS that can be use together with Google Maps with Navigation, an open-line GSM bands for Phone Calls and SMS function, and a built-in Bluetooth and 3G Connectivity. You can now check your emails or post status updates on social media sites anytime, anywhere without having to look for a WiFi Hotspots. It does come only with 1-SIM slot and I don't know if you can use both 3G and Phone at the same time. Anyway, it shouldn't be a big set-back. It runs on Android OS 4.0.4 IceCreamSandwich and hopefully gets an update soon for JellyBean 4.1 too.

You can purchase the FreeLander PD10 Typhoon at Pandawill.com for only US$189.99 including a world-wide free shipping.

The screen has a decent resolution of 1024x600 pixel with IPS Screen Technology. Something that we should be glad as it will not be hard reading messages, or viewing photos and watching videos especially when you're outdoor. The IPS Screen gives the Tablet a wider viewing angles and a vivid colourful images than a regular LCD screen. On the bottom of the screen bezel, you'll have four Capacitve Touch button to navigate through the Tablet's function. Unfortunately, it seems to be a non-backlit Capacitive Touch buttons. On the top is where the mono-firing Loudspeaker that is good enough indoor, and the 2.0MP Front Facing Camera which is great for Video Calls.

This side of the Tablet shows the location of the micro-SD expansion storage slot that supports 32GB of microSDCard which is great as the FreeLander only offers a 4GB of NAND Flash, less the 1GB space for ROM and 1GB space for Internal Memory and the only left for Internal Storage is a less than 2GB space. The Power Button and Volume Rockers are also at the sweet spot, this Tablet is actually design to be hold at portrait mode and those buttons can be easily reach by your fingers. The other covered slot is for the SIM card, a variety of GSM network providers should be fully compatible in this Phone-Tablet, maybe except for some providers in EU and US.

Samsung? Yes indeed, the FreeLander PD10 Typhoon Interface Port is identical to Samsung Galaxy Tab port. Even the USB Cable provided by FreeLander has the Samsung markings on it. But I wonder if every accessories for Galaxy Tab will work on this one. Beautiful and sleek curve and edges, an important matter to every Tablet. The Phone-Tablet's thickness measures about 13mm, a 2~3mm more than the standard 7" Tablet does have. But this one has a reason why it was 3mm Thick than the others. Nevermind the missing screws... LoL. They are definitely mounted before it is shipped. This photo is just to showcase the product.

FreeLander didn't want their flagship 7" Phablet to look ridiculous, so they come up with an elegant combination of Plastic and Aluminium material to be use on this device. Well design and no fancy Text or Drawings, good job! A 2.0MP Rear Facing Camera with an LED Flash is mounted on the top, a very nice feature to have if you love saving some memories of your surroundings. It can capture 720p HD photos and videos day or night which can be also uploaded right away, thanks to the built-in 3G connectivity. And the reason why it has 13mm of thickness is no other than the Battery Capacity. This device has a huge 5200mAh of Battery Capacity which is rated to last 6 hours of continous browsing, streaming over Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

The FreeLander PD10 Typhoon is definitely the best DualCore 7" IPS Tablet with 3G and Phone Function. It completely shoves every competitor by not only giving the Tablet a gorgeous IPS Screen but putting a huge 5200mAh Battery Capacity as well. At its price and features, this Tablet is going to be an awesome companion wherever you go.
