PiPO Max-M8 DualCore 9.4" HD-IPS +3G Tablet

PiPO is ready to unfold their next big line-up of Tablet-PC starting to their new 9.4" Tablet, the PiPO Max-M8 DualCore 9.4" HD-IPS +3G Tablet. Only one particular brand has release a 9.4" Tablet before and that's no other than Sony, and PiPO is following their footstep by using the very same 9.4" HD-IPS Capacitive Multi-Touch Screen LED Display Panel that Sony has used on their Xperia S Tablet-PC. There should be minimal to NO difference at all on the screen if you both looking at Sony Xperia S Tablet and PiPO Max-M8 Tablet except for the Shell Design. In-fact, PiPO has made it better than Sony did to their Xperia S Tablet which measures around 12mm on the thickest part while 8.9mm on thinnest part. Sony Xperia S Tablet still have an advantage here because of Nvidia's Tegra3 QuadCore Chipset, performance would be far better than PiPO Max-M8 which only have a DualCore RockChip RK3066 Chipset. However, price is almost twice than the expected retail price of the PiPO Max-M8 which makes it even.

One big advantage of PiPO Max-M8 here is the built-in 3G connectivity which Sony Xperia S Tablet lacks. No more hassle finding for a good Wi-Fi Hotspots, just turn-on your 3G connection and check your emails, manage your Social Media accounts anywhere and anytime. The 3G modem widely supports variety of networks world-wide except for some states/country in US and EU which PiPO Max-M2 users had hard time configuring their modem to support their network providers. If you ask if its support Phone Function, the answer is NO.

The 3G Version of this Tablet is NOW available at Pandawill.com for US$260.99, while the Non-3G Version is already available for US$207.49. Both includes a world-wide free shipping.

As mentioned above, PiPO Max-M8 is using Sony LED Display Panel with an HD resolution of 1280x800pixel while having the IPS Screen Technology that boost the Screen's image quality and vividness. Viewing angle is also wider than a regular Display, so viewing the Tablet on every angle should help reduce image colour or contrast distortion. I believe PiPO is using FlexiGlass screen and should be able to resist scratch from everyday usage. This kind of Glass screen doesn't protect the screen from breaking as it doesn't have the same toughness of a Gorilla Glass screen. Anyway, just put extra precaution not dropping your Tablet or sitting on top of it and it should be fine.

On the middle-top of the screen bezel, you'll find the 2.0MP Front Facing Camera that can be use on capturing your own photos or as a webcam when doing Video Calls. You will also find a dot near the Camera, it is the Light Sensor which manage the Tablet's screen brightness automatically responding to environment's light availability. The front Stereo Speakers placed on each side of the top-screen bezel. PiPO has made great improvement on their Stereo Speakers starting on their Max-M3 and Max-M2, This PiPO Max-M8 should also provide excellent sound quality and clarity. On the top-right side corner is the main Power/Sleep Button, while the 3.5mm HeadPhone/Earphone port is placed on the other side.

The back is made of a combination of Plastic and Metal material (maybe magnesium-aloy) and it seems not coated which is great. I am no fan of coated metal or aluminium shell material as its fills itself of scratches in due time. A combination of Plastic and Metal is also good preventing any Wi-Fi connectivity issue like most full-metal shell material Tablet had when the metal shell material is blocking extra amount of signal from reaching the Wi-Fi antenna inside the Tablet. The design is very plain and simple, small PiPO branding on the bottom and tiny interface ports marking on the top. Another improvement we are seeing here is the 5.0MP Rear Facing camera with LED Flash and Auto-Zoom function, something that is missing on older PiPO Tablets. The Camera is supposed to capture full-HD photos and videos and the LED flash will definitely help improve captured photos and videos on dark room or during at night.

PiPO has also made improvement on overall looks and external build quality of this product, Max-M8 only measures around 9mm in thickness (around 1mm thicker than Sony Xperia S Tablet's thinnest part). I actually like the way the Tablet edges is made, very elegant yet looks so sturdy. On the top is where the complete availability of Interface ports is located. Here you have an expansion storage slot that supports 32GB of microSDCard, two microUSB port with Host function, a miniHDMI port with full-HD display out. 2.5mm Wall Charger port and the tiny MIC hole. ESC and Menu keys are placed as well on the top.

If there's one thing that most of us want to know more is the Battery Life of this Tablet. It has a battery capacity of 6500mAh 3.7V which is 500mAh larger than Sony Xperia S Tablet, it may be good to hear but the fact we would like to know is how power efficient PiPO made this product. 6500mAh seems to be quite small if we compare to other China MID Tablets like for example Ainol Novo10 Hero which has huge 8000mAh 3.7V battery capacity. Hopefully it could offer full 6-hours of Internet usage either via Wi-Fi or 3G connection, or 6-hours of Heavy 3D Gaming.

ViewSonic ViewPad N710 QuadCore 7" HD-IPS Tablet

Another challenger to Google Nexus 7 has arrive to market, this one ain't no China MID Tablet but a new product from one of the leading LED-LCD screen manufacturer; ViewSonic. The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 which is a successor to their old ViewSonic ViewPad E72 Tablet. It has the very same chipset that the Nexus 7 has; Nvidia Tegra-3 1.3GHz QuadCore Cortex-A9 processor with 12-Core GeForce ULP graphics. We all know how this chipset performs, expect excellent performance and great apps/games compatibility. It comes with a 1GB of RAM that should be enough handling all the resources and 8GB of Storage which is honestly quite small but that shouldn't be a problem as unlike the Nexus 7, the ViewPad N710 has an storage expansion upto 32GB and extended through its microSD-Slot.

It also have similar hardware feature to Nexus 7 like a built-in Bluetooth and an Offline GPS with Google Maps navigation support. It comes only with WiFi connectivity but with option to use 3G connection using external 3G device. For now, it runs on Android OS IceCreamSandwich 4.0 and hopefully it receive an update to latest JellyBean 4.1 OS too.

You can get this Tablet at Pandawill.com for a very competitive price of US$229.99 including a world-wide free shipping. 16GB Version is also available for US$249.99 including world-wide free shipping as-well. A decent price for a great Nexus 7 Tablet alternative.

Just like we mention above, hardware feature are very similar to Nexus 7. Screen is made of 5-touch capacitive LED screen with IPS Technology and a beautiful HD display or 1280x800pixel resolution. ViewSonic is a company that is expert on producing Display Panel so we should be expecting awesome quality of ViewPad N710, plus don't forget that it has IPS Technology which gives wider viewing angle to Tablet without losing much of image quality. It has a 2.0MP Front Facing camera on the right which is good for capturing self-photos or as a webcam for Video Calling. Although some features like Light Sensor and Magnetic Sensor found on Nexus 7 aren't available here on ViewPad N710, not a big deal for me.
The shell case material uses an elegant combination of Plastic and Aluminium with the brand perfectly placed in the middle. From this picture you'll see the Stereo Speakers both placed in one side of the Tablet and should provide decent sound quality. While the other side has the expansion storage slot, microUSB with Host function and a standard 3.5mm Headphone/Earphone port. No Charging port means this one will probably charge through the microUSB port. The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 offers a full 7 hours of Battery Life with its 4000mAh Battery Capacity, 325mAh less than Nexus 7 which is rated to operate upto 10 hours. Well, maybe this one will do the same with casual usage. External build quality is excellent and elegant. Unfortunately, it lacks HDMI out and a Rear Facing Camera.

The ViewSonic ViewPad N710 will definitely give a tough competition to Google Nexus 7 and other challenger like SmartQ X7. Another good alternative with very similar specifications to Google Nexus 7.

FreeLander PD10 Typhoon DualCore 7" IPS 3G Phablet

Looking for a good DualCore 7" Tablet with 3G and complete Phone function? You should definitely see the FreeLander PD10 Typhoone Phone-Tablet which is a 7" DualCore Cortex A9 MTK6577 Chipset with 1.0GHz of processing power and Imagination Tech SGX531 graphics. A very popular and good performer chipset suitable for smartphones and phone-tablets combined with a 1GB of RAM which should be enough carrying all the resources that the Tablet needed.

The FreeLander PD10 Typhoon packs a complete feature that most of the users would love to have like an Offline GPS that can be use together with Google Maps with Navigation, an open-line GSM bands for Phone Calls and SMS function, and a built-in Bluetooth and 3G Connectivity. You can now check your emails or post status updates on social media sites anytime, anywhere without having to look for a WiFi Hotspots. It does come only with 1-SIM slot and I don't know if you can use both 3G and Phone at the same time. Anyway, it shouldn't be a big set-back. It runs on Android OS 4.0.4 IceCreamSandwich and hopefully gets an update soon for JellyBean 4.1 too.

You can purchase the FreeLander PD10 Typhoon at Pandawill.com for only US$189.99 including a world-wide free shipping.

The screen has a decent resolution of 1024x600 pixel with IPS Screen Technology. Something that we should be glad as it will not be hard reading messages, or viewing photos and watching videos especially when you're outdoor. The IPS Screen gives the Tablet a wider viewing angles and a vivid colourful images than a regular LCD screen. On the bottom of the screen bezel, you'll have four Capacitve Touch button to navigate through the Tablet's function. Unfortunately, it seems to be a non-backlit Capacitive Touch buttons. On the top is where the mono-firing Loudspeaker that is good enough indoor, and the 2.0MP Front Facing Camera which is great for Video Calls.

This side of the Tablet shows the location of the micro-SD expansion storage slot that supports 32GB of microSDCard which is great as the FreeLander only offers a 4GB of NAND Flash, less the 1GB space for ROM and 1GB space for Internal Memory and the only left for Internal Storage is a less than 2GB space. The Power Button and Volume Rockers are also at the sweet spot, this Tablet is actually design to be hold at portrait mode and those buttons can be easily reach by your fingers. The other covered slot is for the SIM card, a variety of GSM network providers should be fully compatible in this Phone-Tablet, maybe except for some providers in EU and US.

Samsung? Yes indeed, the FreeLander PD10 Typhoon Interface Port is identical to Samsung Galaxy Tab port. Even the USB Cable provided by FreeLander has the Samsung markings on it. But I wonder if every accessories for Galaxy Tab will work on this one. Beautiful and sleek curve and edges, an important matter to every Tablet. The Phone-Tablet's thickness measures about 13mm, a 2~3mm more than the standard 7" Tablet does have. But this one has a reason why it was 3mm Thick than the others. Nevermind the missing screws... LoL. They are definitely mounted before it is shipped. This photo is just to showcase the product.

FreeLander didn't want their flagship 7" Phablet to look ridiculous, so they come up with an elegant combination of Plastic and Aluminium material to be use on this device. Well design and no fancy Text or Drawings, good job! A 2.0MP Rear Facing Camera with an LED Flash is mounted on the top, a very nice feature to have if you love saving some memories of your surroundings. It can capture 720p HD photos and videos day or night which can be also uploaded right away, thanks to the built-in 3G connectivity. And the reason why it has 13mm of thickness is no other than the Battery Capacity. This device has a huge 5200mAh of Battery Capacity which is rated to last 6 hours of continous browsing, streaming over Wi-Fi or 3G connection.

The FreeLander PD10 Typhoon is definitely the best DualCore 7" IPS Tablet with 3G and Phone Function. It completely shoves every competitor by not only giving the Tablet a gorgeous IPS Screen but putting a huge 5200mAh Battery Capacity as well. At its price and features, this Tablet is going to be an awesome companion wherever you go.

Ainol Novo10 Hero DualCore 10.1" HD-IPS Tablet

6% DISCOUNT COUPON FOR THIS ITEM!
VALID UNTIL JANUARY 14, 2013
COUPON CODE: Hero2013

This is the very first attempt of Ainol to produce a 10.1" Tablet under they flagship brand Novo. The Ainol Novo10 Hero is like a bigger brother of Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame which we've also feature here before. It has the same AMLogic 8726-M6 Chipset on it that provides 1.5GHz DualCore Cortex A9 processing power plus a 400MHz Mali400 graphics processor which both performs good enough to handle every Heavy 3D Games and Intensive apps that are available right now. Just like the Novo7 Fire/Flame, it has a built-in Bluetooh 2.1 which can pair to different BT-Devices/Gadgets. it also have a 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 16GB of Storage which are fine enough to handle all the resources running on an Android OS. The only difference is, the Ainol Novo10 Hero is actually running on much updated Android OS 4.1 JellyBean that the Novo7 Fire/Flame is still lacking. Thanks to Ainol's poor Software Support.

The very first week or months that Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame was launch and reached their customers, it was bombarded with several bugs like 1.) Lost of TouchScreen and 2.) The Mosquito and Popping Sounds issues. It took two months for Ainol and the third party Firmware Developers to provide the necessary patch or right Firmware to fix those issues and we really hope that this time around, Ainol Novo10 Hero won't suffer the same fate as those early Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame batches had. Anyway, Ainol's Community support especially at Slatedroid.com is so large that you won't be having hard time looking for a guy that can actually help.

The new Ainol Novo10 Hero is already available at Pandawill.com for the price that will surely not hurt your pocket. for US$181.99 including a world-wide free shipping, it could be the best 10.1" Tablet on that price category.

Like the smaller Novo7 Fire/Flame, the Ainol Novo10 Hero features an HD-720p screen with 1280x800pixel resolution and has the very same Super-IPS Screen Technology that makes the screen a vivid and colourful images which is said to have much more better than the regular IPS Screen. Most of the Ainol Novo Tablets uses a scratch resist/proof Glass Screen that is much better than hardened plastic. Notice the what's new? Yes, the small "*ainol" markings on the middle-bottom of the bezel is now gone. It was place somewhere else. LoL. Ainol decided to place a much lower 0.3MP Front Facing Camera here and took out the Light Sensor that auto-adjust the Screen Backlight. Ouch!
Ainol never failed at incorporating every necessary Interface ports and functions to their Tablets just like what we are seeing here. From bottom to top, it has a standard 3.5mm Headphone/Earphone port, a tiny Mic hole, an expansion microSD-Slot which is said to support 32GB and extended (that means upto 64GB), a mini-HDMI out for sharing your movies at much larger TV Panels, a micro-USB port with OTG function (for your USB peripherals like Flash Drives, External 3G Dongles) and the standard 12V/2A DC-IN Wall Charger hole. All place at one location which is very nice and well done. The Tablet's thickness measures about 9.9mm, a very common thickness to these China MID Tablets.
Smooth and Sleek edges design, that's what makes these Novo7 Fire/Flame and Novo10 Hero to look more elegant and beautiful. It is made of alluminium and plastic material which prevents the WiFi chip and antenna to degrade performance, a common issues to those Tablets which has full Aluminium Shell. From the corner near to the ports side, the same class of hardware for button function from Novo7 Fire/Flame is also here. A Power Button, Volume Rockers and the Back/Home Button. Behind the mesh part of the Aluminium Shell is where the standard LoudSpeaker is placed, it is just a part of the Ainol's introduction to Stereo Speakers which provide excellent quality of audio, good enough for watching movies outdoor.
Surpirse!!! The new location of the "*ainol" logo is now at the back. Dunno if its good or bad , maybe Ainol gained enough popularity so they've chosen to put a larger "*ainol" logo and showcase it at the back of the Tablet. Good thing is it is done well clean without any blahblahblah words or drawings. Beneath this Aluminium Shell material is the place of the huge 8000mAh Battery Capacity, if the Novo7 Fire/Flame with 5000mAh capacity can last 7-8 hours of video and internet browsing, Novo10 Hero could last 8~9 hours or maybe 10 hours. The sad thing is, the Rear Facing Camera step-down to 2.0MP from 5.0MP with LED Flash on Novo7 Fire/Flame. Well, still better than nothing.

What about performance? Ainol Novo10 Hero's performance should be somehow very similar to Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame or maybe slightly better as it actually runs on much better Operating System. JellyBean 4.1 is more smoother and snappier than IceCreamSandwich 4.0, so you users shouldn't worry much about having constant lags and delay. This one is definitely going to be popular as well so if you guys made orders, expect some few days of delay to delivery. Ainol has previous history of having hard time coping with the demands. Patience is what you need, you'll enjoy it when it arrive anyway.

SmartQ X7 DualCore 7" HD-IPS +GPS Tablet

Code: Smart7
Discount: 10% off
Expire: Nov. 22, 2012(EST)

This is by far the only 7" Tablet manufactured by Smart Devices that can compete directly to Google Nexus 7. We all know Ainol Novo7 Fire/Flame did try to battle head to head to Google Nexus 7 but the latter is just awesome enough to defeat the Novo7 Fire very easily. Now, it is the dawn of the new SmartQ X7 Tablet. A 7" Tablet that is built with TI-OMAP 4470 chipset which is a 1.5GHz DualCore Cortex A9 processor with also a famous Imagination Tech PowerVR SGX544 graphics.

The Texas Instrument OMAP 4470 Chipset is a very popular Cortex A9 Chipset for many of available smartphones until today because of its exceptional performance in both graphics and processor while keeping a great power efficiency. Plus, SmartQ put a stunning 2GB of Low Power DDR2 RAM that will surely makes everything operate smoothly even a resource hog application is running on the background.

SmartQ X7 comes with two different variant, the X7 and X7 Lite which has only 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM. Both have 16GB of Storage but only the X7 is available so far at Pandawill.com for US$269.99 including a world-wide free shipping. That's similar to Google Nexus 7 with 32GB of storage + a US$20.00 shipping if its not available in your country.

SmartQ X7 Screen is comparable to Google Nexus 7's Screen, it has same HD-720p resolution (1280x800pixel) and is also using the popular IPS Technology which gives the users not only a vivid and very colorful image but also a wider viewing angle compared to ordinary or MVA Screen. SmartQ is very strict when it comes to quality so we should be expecting a decent quality screen with minimal to no backlight bleeding. A 2.0MP Front Facing Camera is placed in the middle-top of the SmartQ X7's slim screen bezel. Good for Video Calls or just Capturing self photos and upload to social media apps like Facebook and Twitter.

Most probably, this will be the biggest advantage of SmartQ X7 over Google Nexus 7. The complete set of casual user Interface Ports like mini-HDMI out, micro-USB port with OTG function, and the most important of all, a microSD-Slot for storage expansion. A 3.5mm Headphone/Earphone port and a standard 2.5mm Wall Charger port is also available. All located at one side of the Tablet which only measures about 9.5mm in thickness, a 1mm thinner that Google Nexus 7. The edges of the SmartQ X7 is also very sleek and elegant, almost better looking than the Nexus 7.

Other things like having a 2.0MP Rear Facing Camera, a latest Bluetooth 3.0 EDR, an offline GPS navigation and a huge 4200mAh Battery Capacity (125mAh lesser than Nexus 7) also makes the SmartQ X7 almost better than Google Nexus 7 if not, maybe a decent competitor to it. If SmartQ made this Tablet very power efficient just like the Nexus 7 do, it could provide 8~9 hours of continuous Internet Browsing or Movie Playback. WiFi Connectivity on SmartQ Tablets seems to have minimal to no problem at all. The only CONS I am seeing right now is that SmartQ X7 doesn't have a Stereo Speaker, instead it has a mono-firing loudspeaker and we hope it can provide good quality of sounds.

Overall, if Google Nexus 7 lack of Interface Port and a Storage Expansion worries you, SmartQ X7 is the best alternative to buy. Performance would be a little bit lesser than Nexus 7's Nvidia Tegra 3 QuadCore Chipset but it should be way better than other DualCore Cortex A9 chipset that most China MID brands are using, like Rockchip RK3066 and AMLogic 8726-M6 Chipsets. It comes with Android 4.1.2 JellyBean OS with Google PlayStore pre-installed.
